Jho Low Reportedly Seeks US Presidential Pardon From Donald Trump

Date:

Malaysian financier Low Taek Jho, widely known as Jho Low and currently a fugitive, has reportedly sought a pardon from US President Donald Trump, according to a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report.

Reuters said it was unable to independently verify the claim.

The WSJ reported, citing individuals familiar with the matter, that the request was submitted in recent weeks and, if approved, would effectively remove US criminal charges against him.

It added that a US Department of Justice website shows a pending application titled “Pardon after Completion of Sentence” under the name Taek Jho Low, filed earlier this year.

However, a White House official was quoted as saying that Low’s request is not currently on the administration’s agenda or “on the radar,” according to the WSJ.

Low is widely known for his alleged role in the 1MDB financial scandal and has been evading authorities for years.
