A 13-year-old male student was pronounced dead after he was found unconscious at a school hostel in Sekolah Menengah Paloh, Gua Musang, yesterday.
District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said authorities received a report at 8.53am from a man who informed them that his son had been discovered unconscious at the hostel.
The student was immediately taken to the Chiku 3 Health Clinic by school authorities for medical attention, where a medical officer confirmed that he had died.
The body was later transferred to Gua Musang Hospital for a post-mortem, which was conducted at 3.30pm to determine the cause of death.
Initial findings indicated spontaneous bleeding in the brain and pulmonary oedema as the cause of death.
Police said further examinations found no elements of foul play in the case.
The body has since been handed over to the family for burial arrangements.
The case has been classified as sudden death, with investigations still ongoing.
