Hospital And Police Launch Dual Investigations Into Baby’s Hospital Leg Fracture Case

Date:

Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said members of the public or family members who were present at the hospital during the incident and have any relevant information are urged to come forward immediately.

“I would like to ask family members who may have been in the ward and might have seen or know something to share any information. Please contact the Head of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters,” he said.

Previously, it was reported that a 13-day-old baby boy suffered a fractured right thigh bone while receiving treatment for jaundice at a hospital here.

According to Hanyan, police received a report from the baby’s father stating that his child, who was admitted for another medical condition, sustained the injury after several days of treatment.

“A hospital internal investigation has been carried out, and police have also opened an investigation paper under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

“We now have two parallel investigations ongoing. We have also arranged meetings with the hospital, which is cooperating fully. We will also consider other forms of assistance in the investigation such as expert opinions, CCTV footage, and witnesses if available,” he said.

He added that the investigation is also focusing on the cause of the injury.
