An eighteen-year-old girl, Siti Auni Syafiqa Sheikh Ali, who tragically lost her life in a road accident, made a touching video call to her father just one day before the incident. During the call, she expressed how much she missed him and shared her excitement about returning home to Kuantan after attending a wedding feast in Alor Gajah, Melaka.
Her father, Sheikh Ali Sheikh Mustafa, recalled that Siti Auni was with her thirteen-year-old sister, Siti Adawiya Syauqina, during the call. “The last time I saw them was on Thursday before they left for Alor Gajah with their mother,” he said. “On Saturday, we had a video call, and she said, ‘I miss you, Ayah. I can’t wait to come home and hug you.’”
Tragically, Sheikh Ali received the devastating news of her death yesterday evening. “Someone called to inform me that Siti Auni Syafiqa was no longer with us due to an accident,” he said, remembering her as a strong young woman who had battled a heart condition since age four and regularly visited the National Heart Institute.
The accident occurred around 5:30 pm along Jalan Bahau-Keratong near Kampung Bukit Serok in Rompin. Siti Auni Syafiqa and two others died when their car skidded and collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle, while four other passengers sustained injuries.
Sheikh Ali confirmed that his younger daughter, Siti Adawiya Syauqina, suffered serious head and facial injuries. His wife, Salmieza Muhamed, 46, was not involved in the crash, as she was traveling in a separate vehicle.
The father says the last words of his daughter during their video call remain an everlasting memory of her love and warmth.
