Date:

A motorcyclist was killed after reportedly colliding with a cow in a crash at KM12, Jalan Tapah–Changkat Petai, on Wednesday.

Tapah district police chief Superintendent Abdul Malik Hasim said the incident occurred at about 8.10pm and involved a male victim in his 20s.

He said preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding alone and was on his way home from work in Sungai Manik when the incident happened.

“Checks at the scene found cow dung and skid marks on the road along the victim’s lane,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

He added that investigators also discovered severe damage to the front of the motorcycle, believed to have been caused by the impact before the victim skidded.

The victim suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene.

Police said no evidence of involvement from other vehicles was found at the location so far.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Members of the public with information are urged to contact the Tapah district police headquarters or the investigating officer to assist in the investigation.
