Global K-pop sensation BTS will make a special appearance at the 2026 American Music Awards (AMAs), organisers CBS and Dick Clark Productions confirmed on Wednesday.
The superstar group is also heading into this year’s ceremony with three major nominations, including the prestigious Artiste of the Year category.
BTS will compete against international music heavyweights including Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber.
The group also earned nominations for Song of the Summer with their hit single Swim, as well as Best Male K-pop Artiste alongside Ateez, Enhypen, Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together.
BTS previously made history at the 2021 AMAs by becoming the first Korean act ever to win Artiste of the Year. To date, the group has collected 11 AMA trophies.
The announcement comes amid the massive success of BTS’ latest album Arirang, which topped the Billboard 200 chart for three consecutive weeks following its long-awaited release in March.
Meanwhile, the album’s lead single Swim also dominated the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The group is currently touring globally with their Arirang world tour, which includes four concert nights in Singapore this December.
Adding to the excitement, BTS is also set to co-headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show on July 19 alongside Madonna and Shakira.
The highly anticipated halftime performance is being curated by Chris Martin, frontman of British rock band Coldplay.
