A local man was found dead in a pool of blood outside a food and beverage outlet in Pekan Nanas early Thursday morning.
Pontian district police chief Superintendent Hadzrat Hussien Mion Hussain said police received a report on the incident at about 3.53am.
A team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Pontian District Police Headquarters was then deployed to the scene to carry out further investigations.
Preliminary findings showed that the victim, a 22-year-old local man, sustained severe injuries to his arms and legs.
He was confirmed dead at the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Police are currently working to determine the motive behind the incident and to track down those involved.
