A 32-year-old man failed to complete a heroin delivery to a drug syndicate after 60 grams of the substance hidden on his body were seized by the General Operations Force (PGA) during an operation at Jalan Kasban, Kampung Simpangan yesterday.
The suspect was arrested at about 7pm when PGA’s Tenggara Brigade carried out Ops Taring Wawasan in the area.
Tenggara Brigade PGA Commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain said officers spotted a motorcycle behaving suspiciously heading towards Kuala Jambu before attempting to stop it for inspection.
He said the suspect tried to flee by speeding off before losing control and crashing into a bush area near Jalan Kasban, Kampung Naga Ibu in Pengkalan Kubor.
“The suspect also acted aggressively, leading to a struggle during the arrest,” he said.
A search on the suspect led to the discovery of 60 grams of heroin worth about RM1,500 hidden on his body.
Initial urine screening found the man positive for methamphetamine, and he also had multiple past records involving drug and criminal offences.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect obtained the heroin supply from a Thai national known as Mat at the Tualang illegal jetty, reportedly since January.
The drugs were believed to be intended for distribution around Pengkalan Kubor, with the suspect earning about RM100 per delivery.
He was also believed to have been actively involved in drug delivery activities from illegal jetties to the area for the past five months.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
