Many employees have likely experienced being contacted by their bosses after working hours, sometimes interrupting their rest and personal time.
As discussions around work-life balance continue to grow, more workers are also becoming aware of the importance of setting boundaries when work starts to spill into their personal hours.
A woman recently shared on Threads how she managed to gently teach her employer to respect her after-work time, without being rude or sarcastic.
According to her, her boss once texted her at 11pm requesting her to prepare presentation slides for an important meeting the next day.
Instead of responding, she chose not to reply and went to sleep, as she felt her working hours had already ended.
The following morning, after arriving at the office, her boss asked about the presentation slides.
She calmly responded: “Sorry boss, I was already off work. I didn’t see the message.”
She added that since the incident, her boss has stopped sending work-related messages after 6pm.
The woman emphasised that setting boundaries does not mean being disrespectful.
Instead, she said it reflects professionalism and helps maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Her story has since gained attention online, with many netizens agreeing that employees should be allowed to rest without work interruptions outside office hours.
