Mohamad Hasan Calls For Negeri Sembilan DUN To Be Dissolved Amid Political Crisis

Date:

UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has said that dissolving the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) would be the best way to resolve the ongoing political crisis in the state.

He said the move would return the mandate to the people, allowing voters to decide who should govern the state.

According to him, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has effectively lost majority support after 14 UMNO state assemblymen withdrew their backing.

“If Aminuddin no longer has the confidence of the majority in the assembly, it is best for him to dissolve the DUN and return the mandate to the people so they can decide who should govern Negeri Sembilan.

“Let’s not create unnecessary confusion that may cause uneasiness among the public. The world is already facing instability due to wars, so we should handle matters properly,” he said.

Mohamad, who is also the Rembau MP, added that UMNO’s participation in the Unity Government is meant to jointly manage the country, not to create public instability.

He also suggested that a DUN sitting be held soon to allow Aminuddin to prove whether he still commands majority support to remain as Menteri Besar.

Previously, Negeri Sembilan UMNO chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias announced that all 14 UMNO assemblymen had unanimously withdrawn their support for Aminuddin, following a crisis involving state customs and constitutional matters.

The crisis gained attention after traditional leaders allegedly made declarations concerning the position of the Negeri Sembilan Yang di-Pertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, at the Sungei Ujong chieftains’ council.
