Traffic flow on the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Expressway (KLK) and the East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) is expected to reach critical levels from May 23 to 25 in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrations.
The highway concessionaire, AFA PRIME Berhad, said a significant surge in vehicles is expected, particularly at the Gombak, Bentong and Karak toll plazas, which serve as main routes to the east coast.
In response, the company has activated a comprehensive traffic management strategy, including the implementation of a Travel Time Advisory (TTA) to help ease congestion during the festive period.
According to AFA PRIME, motorists travelling from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor to Pahang on May 23, 24 and 26 are advised to enter the highway between 10am to 2pm or 4pm to 6pm.
For journeys to Terengganu, travellers are encouraged to set off between 8am to 10am or 6pm to 8pm.
Those heading to Kelantan are advised to travel between 6am to 8am or 8pm to 10pm.
For the return journey to Kuala Lumpur on June 1 and 2, travellers from Pahang are advised to depart between 6am to 10am or 7pm to 11pm.
Motorists from Terengganu are encouraged to travel between 11am to 2pm or 8pm to 10pm, while those from Kelantan are advised to move between 6pm to 9pm or 11pm to midnight.
AFA PRIME also encouraged road users to take advantage of “free travel hours” between midnight and 6am to reduce congestion.
The company said it remains committed to ensuring safe and comfortable journeys for all highway users during the festive season.
It added that patrol units and emergency response teams will be strategically stationed along the expressways to assist motorists in case of emergencies.
In addition, light vehicle users are advised to avoid peak hours involving express buses at the Gombak Toll Plaza between 9.30am to 12pm and 9.30pm to 12am to help ease traffic flow.
