A contractor was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car near a petrol station along the Kuala Lumpur–Ipoh Road in Antara Gapi on Friday.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ibrahim Husin said authorities received information on the fatal crash at about 9.25am.
He said initial investigations found that the incident occurred around 9am involving a 45-year-old male motorcyclist and a 65-year-old car driver.
The victim, who worked as a contractor, was on his way to work in Antara Gapi at the time.
“As he was travelling along the Kuala Lumpur–Ipoh Road near the Antara Gapi petrol station, a car driven by an e-hailing driver turned right into the station,” he said in a statement.
He added that the action of the driver caused the motorcyclist to crash into the front left passenger door of the vehicle.
“As a result of the impact, the victim was thrown onto the road and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said.
The body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Authorities are also urging witnesses with information to assist investigations by contacting the investigating officer or the nearest police station.
