Man Detained After Police Discover 33 Litres Of Ketum In Car Boot

Date:

A dangerous U-turn made by a man while approaching a roadblock led police to uncover 33 litres of suspected ketum water in Jalan Pekan Brisu, here.

Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said the incident occurred at about 5.40pm yesterday when officers from the district Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD) were conducting Op Compliance along the Brisu–Simpang Ampat road.

He said police spotted a Proton Wira driver making a sudden U-turn upon approaching the roadblock.

Officers then trailed the vehicle, which had come from the Lubok China direction, before ordering it to stop at Pekan Brisu.

Initial checks on the male driver in his 30s from Lubok China did not reveal any suspicious items.

However, further inspection of the boot uncovered 33 transparent plastic packets containing liquid believed to be ketum water.

The ketum liquid was seized, and the man was detained to assist investigations under Section 28A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).
