Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a telephone conversation yesterday with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said he once again congratulated Vijay on the important responsibility of serving the people of Tamil Nadu.
He also shared that he informed Vijay of his planned visit to India this September to attend the BRICS Summit and to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Anwar added that, if time permits, he may also make a brief visit to Tamil Nadu.
Anwar further expressed his prayers that Vijay will be granted strength and wisdom to lead effectively for the welfare and future of the people of Tamil Nadu.
On May 12, Anwar had earlier congratulated his friend also a well-known South Indian film icon on his appointment as Chief Minister, while expressing interest in strengthening future cooperation.
Vijay, 52, who made a transition from a successful acting career to politics, leads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, which recently secured a major victory in the state legislative assembly elections.
