An arson attack in Stapok caused minor damage to a luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), according to authorities.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Batu Lintang fire station were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 4.58am.
“The fire involved an MPV, with the rear portion slightly damaged. The blaze had already been extinguished before firefighters arrived,” it said in a statement.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
A review of the victim’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed a burning object, believed to be a Molotov cocktail (petrol bomb), being thrown from a distance at the rear of the vehicle before it ignited.
