The Pahang state government has agreed to extend the land tax payment deadline for this year until June 30, giving landowners an extra month to settle their dues without facing penalties.
Previously, the annual payment deadline was set for May 31.
Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the extension also includes an exemption from the usual 10 per cent late payment surcharge imposed on outstanding land tax payments.
According to him, the decision was made after considering the unusually long holiday periods throughout May, which may have affected the public’s ability to make payments on time.
“I would like to remind everyone that land tax is an important responsibility for every landowner,” he said in a statement.
Wan Rosdy explained that revenue collected from land taxes plays a major role in helping the state government fund development projects, improve infrastructure, strengthen public services and support welfare programmes for the people of Pahang.
He urged taxpayers to make full use of the extended deadline to clear their payments promptly and avoid possible enforcement action in the future.
“We remain committed to ensuring the state’s revenue management stays at the highest level to guarantee financial stability and the continuity of development agendas for the benefit of all Pahang residents,” he added.
The announcement is expected to bring relief to many landowners across the state, especially those affected by financial commitments and holiday-related delays during the month of May.
