Commuters on the Ampang/Sri Petaling LRT line faced major delays today following a technical disruption on the tracks near Chan Sow Lin Station.
In a statement, Rapid Rail Sdn. Bhd. confirmed that the incident caused one train to become immobile, disrupting train schedules along the affected route.
According to the company, all 25 passengers onboard the affected train were safely evacuated in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Technical teams were immediately deployed to the location to carry out repair works and restore services as quickly as possible.
Earlier, several videos and photos went viral on social media showing passengers being instructed to leave the train and walk along the tracks during the evacuation process.
One user on Threads, identified as @I.shzni, shared images and footage of the incident, describing the frustrating morning commute experienced by passengers.
“This is why the LRT was delayed today. The route between Chan Sow Lin and Cheras. Happened at 6.15am,” the user wrote.
The viral posts quickly sparked concern among commuters, with many expressing frustration over repeated public transport disruptions during peak hours.
Meanwhile, Rapid Rail announced that alternative train services had been activated to minimise inconvenience for passengers.
Among the temporary arrangements introduced were shuttle train services from Sentul Timur, which would turn back at Pudu Station every four minutes.
Additional shuttle trains were also provided between Cheras and Bandar Tasik Selatan stations on Platform 1 at eight-minute intervals, as well as between Ampang and Pandan Jaya stations every five minutes.
Rapid KL also announced that trains from Putra Heights would temporarily turn back at Bandar Tasik Selatan Station with four-minute intervals.
To further assist stranded passengers, free shuttle bus services were activated between Pudu Station, Cheras and Pandan Jaya.
Passengers were advised to consider using alternative rail routes and seek assistance from station officers or auxiliary police personnel if necessary.
Rapid KL said the latest updates regarding service status can be obtained through its official social media channels and the MyRapid PULSE application.
