Security Team Acts Fast To Stop Shopping Mall Kiosk Fire From Spreading

Date:

Quick action by security personnel and an automatic sprinkler system prevented a fire at a selfie studio kiosk inside a shopping mall from spreading early this morning.

A spokesman for the Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre said an emergency call was received at 6.02am, prompting the deployment of 13 firefighters from the Kota Darul Naim and Kota Bharu fire stations.

Upon arriving at the scene at 6.09am, firefighters found that the blaze had involved a Selfie Studio kiosk measuring approximately 1.8 metres by 3.6 metres inside the mall.

However, the fire had already been extinguished by the building’s security guards with the assistance of the premises’ automatic sprinkler system before the arrival of the fire brigade.

In a broader fire safety context, the incident highlighted the crucial role of early response measures and functioning fire suppression systems in preventing larger losses and protecting public safety.

Authorities estimated that about five per cent of the kiosk was damaged in the incident.

No injuries were reported, and firefighters subsequently carried out inspections to ensure there was no risk of reignition before declaring the situation fully under control at 6.13am.
