Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has assured Malaysians that efforts to tackle rising living costs are being implemented in stages and with careful planning to ensure long-term economic stability and improved quality of life.
Speaking at the investiture ceremony held in conjunction with the official birthday celebration of Sultan Ibrahim, Anwar said the government remains committed to easing financial pressures faced by the people through a measured and responsible approach.
According to the Prime Minister, policies designed to address cost-of-living challenges are being introduced gradually to ensure they achieve their intended objectives without creating unnecessary disruptions to the economy.
“Efforts to address the rising cost of living are being implemented in stages and prudently so that Malaysians can enjoy a more stable and prosperous life,” he said.
Anwar explained that the government’s strategy focuses on carefully sequencing interventions to maximise their effectiveness while safeguarding economic growth and fiscal sustainability.
He stressed that targeted assistance remains a key priority, ensuring aid reaches those who genuinely require support without placing excessive strain on national finances.
“The focus is on delivering assistance to the right groups so that support can be provided effectively while maintaining responsible financial management,” he said.
The Prime Minister added that strengthening Malaysia’s social protection framework remains a central component of the government’s broader economic agenda.
This includes efforts to improve access to essential public services such as healthcare and education while enhancing support mechanisms for vulnerable groups.
Anwar said these initiatives are being implemented alongside fiscal reforms and targeted subsidy programmes aimed at improving the efficiency of public spending and ensuring government resources are utilised more effectively.
He noted that the ultimate goal is to build a more resilient economy capable of withstanding future challenges while improving the overall well-being of Malaysians.
The government’s approach, he said, is designed not only to provide immediate relief from rising living costs but also to create a stronger and more sustainable economic foundation for future generations.
