Police Probe Grandson Of Nik Aziz Claim Of Being Slapped By Former Senator At Janda Baik Event

Date:

Police have launched an investigation into allegations that a public university student was slapped by a politician during a leadership programme held in Janda Baik, Bentong last month.

Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said authorities received a report from the 23-year-old student on 30 May, prompting an official investigation into the incident.

Initial findings revealed that the suspect, a 62-year-old politician, allegedly slapped the victim on the left cheek while both were attending the Program Pemerkasaan Bangsa 2.0 at the Institute of Empowering Ummah Training Centre (ILMU) in Kampung Janda Baik on 20 May.

According to police, the alleged incident took place inside a hall and was witnessed by several individuals who were present at the venue. The student later lodged a police report, claiming dissatisfaction with the politician’s actions.

“The victim reported the matter to the police because he was unhappy with the conduct of the politician involved,” Yahaya said in a statement on Tuesday.

Although the student did not suffer any serious injuries, police have classified the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

In a further twist, Yahaya revealed that police also received a report from the politician on 1 June regarding the same incident. Statements from both the complainant and the suspect have already been recorded, while additional witnesses are expected to be called in to assist investigations.

Authorities said the investigation paper will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor soon for further instructions.

Police have also urged the public to refrain from speculation that could interfere with ongoing investigations, stressing the importance of allowing the legal process to take its course.

The case gained public attention after the student, who is also the grandson of former PAS spiritual leader the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, alleged that he had been slapped by a former Senator following a talk session at the programme.

However, the former Senator has reportedly denied the allegation, insisting that the incident did not occur as claimed.
