Three Machete-Wielding Robbery Suspects Identified After Twin Store Raids In Perak And Penang

Date:

Police have identified three men believed to be behind a brazen armed robbery at a grocery store in Taman Klebang Ria, Chemor, and are investigating possible links to a similar attack in Penang.

Ipoh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said authorities received a report from the owner of the grocery store following the incident, which occurred on Sunday.

According to preliminary investigations, three local men entered the premises armed with machetes before robbing a female employee in her 20s. The suspects fled with cash and several personal belongings belonging to the victim.

Despite the terrifying ordeal, the woman escaped without physical injuries. Footage of the incident later spread across social media, drawing widespread attention from the public.

Police believe the same group may also be responsible for another armed robbery that took place at a convenience store in Nibong Tebal, Penang, on the same day.

In the Penang incident, a 27-year-old male victim was allegedly attacked with a machete during the robbery. The suspects reportedly escaped with cash, several cartons of cigarettes and a crossbody bag, resulting in losses estimated at RM500.

The victim suffered injuries to his head and both hands and was initially treated at Hospital Sungai Bakap before being transferred to Hospital Sunway Penang. He is reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities are continuing efforts to track down the suspects and determine the full extent of their involvement in both cases.

The Chemor robbery is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code. Members of the public with information related to the case are urged to contact the Ipoh District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 05-2451500 or visit the nearest police station to assist investigations.
