The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning involving heavy rain and strong winds across five states, valid until 3pm today.
In a broader context, such short-term weather alerts are issued to help the public prepare for sudden and potentially hazardous weather conditions, particularly during periods of unstable atmospheric activity.
In its statement on Thursday, MetMalaysia said the affected areas include Terengganu (Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Jerantut), and Selangor (Hulu Langat).
The same weather conditions are also expected in Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin) and Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru).
