A suspected drug transporter abandoned 12 packages of methamphetamine weighing 14.4kg, worth an estimated RM744,000, after fleeing into a bushy area in Pengkalan Kempas, Linggi, Port Dickson during an early morning police chase yesterday.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the 42-year-old suspect had earlier been pursued by police for about six kilometres before the incident occurred at around 4am.
In a broader context, drug syndicates continue to rely on multiple transport routes and couriers, making enforcement efforts increasingly dependent on coordinated land and maritime operations.
He said the suspect was first detected in the Tanjung Agas area before police launched a pursuit that ended when the suspect’s Perodua Myvi skidded and crashed.
The suspect then escaped into a nearby bush area, leaving behind the vehicle.
Police later discovered not only the 12 drug packages but also 100 vape cartridges believed to contain ketamine, valued at about RM100,000 inside the car.
Alzafny said the local suspect acted as a transporter, sourcing the drugs from Kuala Lumpur before delivering them to two Indonesian suspects who were earlier arrested by police.
The Indonesian men, aged 30 and 34, were detained at about 3am in a fibre boat off Kampung Kuala Lukut in Port Dickson as part of the same investigation.
