A large python discovered coiled inside the engine compartment of a car at UTM Hotel & Residences has gone viral on social media, after the vehicle owner who was attending a wedding reception was alerted by a DJ announcement.
The incident, which has since drawn widespread attention online, highlights how wildlife encounters in urban and semi-urban areas continue to surprise residents, especially in neighbourhoods close to forested zones.
A video uploaded on Threads by user wartawan.jalanan2026 shows three Civil Defence Force (CDF) personnel lifting the car bonnet before uncovering the sizeable snake, which remained largely motionless during the removal process.
The car owner was reportedly informed of the situation after a DJ made an announcement over the public address system, following a tip-off from the hotel security guard.
The clip quickly gained traction online, with netizens reacting with a mix of shock and humour over the unexpected discovery.
Some long-time residents familiar with the area said python sightings were not uncommon around Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and nearby roads, with claims that the reptiles have been present in the vicinity for decades.
Others shared concerns about missing stray animals in the area, suggesting possible links to the presence of large snakes.
Social media users also expressed disbelief at the size of the python, with many commenting on how it could have gone unnoticed inside the vehicle’s engine bay.
