Teen Murder Case Shocks Sabah: 20-Year-Old Sentenced to Life, 12 Juveniles Detained

The High Court here has sentenced a 20-year-old former Lahad Datu Vocational College student to life imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane after finding him guilty of murdering 17-year-old Mohamad Nazmie Aizzat Mohd Narul Azwan in March last year.

In today’s sentencing proceedings, Judge Datuk Duncan Sikodol also ordered 12 other accused, who are still underage, to be detained at the pleasure of the Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri for the same offence.

On August 22, the Tawau High Court ruled that 13 teenagers, aged between 16 and 19, were guilty of murdering Mohamad Nazmie Aizzat.

When delivering the judgment, Judge Duncan stated that all the accused were found guilty under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code.
