Missing hiker Jaslinda Saludin, 49, who disappeared while trekking at Gunung Batu Putih on May 23, has been found safe.
Jaslinda was located at Kampung Lubuk Gaharu near Pos Musoh after members of the Orang Asli community alerted authorities to her whereabouts.
Perak police chief Datuk Alwi Zainal Abidin confirmed the discovery and said an official statement would be issued later.
The woman is currently safe and has been temporarily placed at the home of the village head, or Tok Batin, in Kampung Lubuk Gaharu while further arrangements are being made.
Earlier, photographs believed to show Jaslinda at a house within the Orang Asli settlement began circulating on social media.
Meanwhile, Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Sayani Saidon said the hiker was found by a resident, identified as Nazri Bah Eng, at about 3pm.
According to Sayani, the resident informed his nephew in Johor, who subsequently lodged a report with the authorities.
Jaslinda remains under the care of the local community while the relevant agencies coordinate the next course of action.
She was reported missing after taking part in the Trans Spencer Chapman expedition with 13 other hikers and two mountain guides. The group began the trek at 2am on May 23 via the Pos Gedung–Gunung Bah Gading–Gunung Batu Putih–Kuala Woh route.
During the expedition, Jaslinda and another participant, Mohd Hanafi Neikmad, 41, reportedly experienced health issues and stopped with the group.
However, Jaslinda later continued the journey on her own towards the summit and was last seen by a mountain guide at about 7.30am on May 24, triggering a massive multi-agency search and rescue operation that lasted more than two weeks.
