Government Allocates Extra RM1 Million For AIMST University Students

Date:

The federal government has approved an additional RM1 million allocation for AIMST University to further support students from underprivileged backgrounds, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.

He said the additional funding will supplement the annual government grant provided to the private university to ensure continued access to education assistance for needy students.

Speaking at the annual government grant presentation ceremony in Bedong near Sungai Petani, Anwar said the government is committed to safeguarding educational opportunities for the poorest students.

He added that AIMST University has received an annual allocation of RM25 million under the latest funding arrangement.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said Malaysia’s economic performance remains strong despite global challenges, with unemployment at its lowest level and investment reaching record highs.

He also highlighted recent government initiatives, including an allocation of RM100 for every secondary school and university student to purchase books.

The Prime Minister said education remains a key national priority, noting that it receives the largest share of the annual budget as it plays a crucial role in shaping the country’s future.
