Food Poisoning Suspected At Kundang Religious Centre, 27 Affected

A total of 27 students from a tahfiz centre and elderly pondok residents in Kundang, Rawang are suspected to have suffered food poisoning after consuming food sourced externally last Thursday.

Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said police received a report regarding the incident involving the religious institution in Kundang.

He said initial investigations found that the victims experienced symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea after consuming the food on June 4.

All affected individuals received treatment at nearby health facilities and Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Authorities confirmed that all victims are now in stable condition.

Investigations at the scene were carried out by the Gombak District Health Office, which collected statements and food samples for laboratory analysis to determine the cause of the incident.

The case is being handled by the Health Ministry (KKM) under the Food Act 1983 and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

Police have urged those with information to assist investigations while also advising food handlers to maintain strict hygiene and safety standards.

Members of the public have also been reminded not to speculate on the case to avoid disrupting investigations.
