Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has firmly stated that the coalition will not work with DAP in the upcoming state election, citing respect for the wishes of the people in the state.
The Johor Menteri Besar stressed that the decision is not driven by racial sentiment or arrogance, but instead based on principle, mandate and responsibility towards the people of Johor.
He said DAP will not be part of the BN-led Johor government, adding that such a scenario would only be possible if voters continue to give BN a strong mandate in the next state election.
Onn Hafiz also emphasised that as BN Johor chief, he is committed to serving all communities in the state and respecting grassroots sentiment that favours BN contesting independently in the polls.
He clarified that the federal and state political situations are different, pointing out that BN’s cooperation with Pakatan Harapan at the national level was formed after the 15th General Election when no single coalition secured a majority.
However, he said the situation in Johor is distinct, as BN had already been given a clear mandate by voters to form a stable state government.
Onn Hafiz added that the current administration remains stable and focused on delivering results, stressing that political arrangements at the state level should not disrupt governance or stability.
