PKR Ready To Face Political Manoeuvring, Says Fadhlina

Date:

PKR will continue to stand firm despite facing political betrayals in the past and what it perceives as fresh challenges within the unity government, said its Wanita chief Fadhlina Sidek.

Addressing the party’s national congress, Fadhlina said PKR was aware of political developments involving parties within the unity government, including those whose actions appeared to contradict their position as government partners.

Without naming any party, she appeared to criticise Umno-Barisan Nasional over its cooperation with opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional during the recent Negeri Sembilan state election.

Fadhlina said the party had previously experienced more serious political setbacks, including the defection of several former PKR lawmakers which contributed to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan administration in 2020.

She stressed that PKR’s survival did not depend solely on its political partners, but on the commitment of its grassroots members who continue working at branch level, meeting voters and campaigning despite facing various challenges.

According to her, the party would remain prepared to confront political manoeuvring and obstacles, regardless of where they came from. She said PKR’s strength was rooted in members who remained committed to the party’s struggle.

The Nibong Tebal MP also acknowledged that political circumstances could change, but maintained that PKR would continue moving forward despite the uncertainty surrounding its relationships with other parties.

Meanwhile, PKR Youth chief Kamil Munim called for patience in pursuing the party’s reform agenda, saying changes should not be rushed and must instead be implemented carefully.

He said consistency and a measured approach were important to ensure the reform process could be carried out effectively and deliver meaningful results.
