MACC Staff Told To Update Asset Declarations Under New Rule

Date:

The Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Abd Halim Aman, has instructed all personnel to declare or update their asset disclosures within one month after receiving an official notice to be issued at a later date.

He said the directive is part of broader reforms under his leadership aimed at strengthening integrity and restoring public confidence in MACC as an independent, professional and impartial enforcement body.

Abd Halim added that all officers will be required to comply with the declaration exercise within the stipulated timeframe once the formal notification is issued.

He also confirmed that he will be the first to complete the asset declaration process as a demonstration of commitment to transparency.

Speaking at his first address during MACC’s monthly assembly, he stressed that the commission will not bow to any form of external pressure, including public opinion, media scrutiny or political influence.

He emphasised that justice and the rule of law must be applied consistently without exception, describing integrity as something that must be demonstrated through actions rather than rhetoric.

Abd Halim further warned MACC officers against misconduct, saying even minor wrongdoing could damage the reputation and credibility of the entire organisation.
