‘I Was in Shock’: Woman Throws Shampoo at Transgender in Restroom Clash

Date:

A woman has drawn attention online after sharing her experience of being confronted by a transgender individual while using the facilities at a recreational center.

In a post on Threads, the complainant claimed that the transgender person confidently entered the women’s section without regard for other visitors.

“I once went to this place with my cousins around 3 or 4 a.m. After soaking in the water, I went inside the changing room to get dressed while the others stayed behind. The room had toilets and shower stalls. As I was about to remove my headscarf and dry my hair, suddenly a transgender person walked in,” she recalled.

According to her, she immediately confronted the individual, which escalated into a heated argument. She admitted that out of shock, she threw a shampoo bottle and raised her voice.

“He shouted back, saying it’s a public place and that he also paid to use it. Another person who was showering there got angry as well, and eventually the transgender person stormed out without changing, stomping his feet in frustration,” she said.

The complainant stressed that she had no issue with how others choose to live, but was uncomfortable when her privacy as a woman was not respected.

“Please, I’m not here to judge how you live. But you need to think—what if there are Muslim women using the changing room? You can’t just walk in. Use the men’s facilities instead,” she wrote.

She further explained in the comments that she could identify the individual as transgender due to noticeable male characteristics, such as a heavy voice, unshaven facial hair, and masculine body language.

According to the Federal Territories Mufti’s Office, it is prohibited in Islamic law for transgender individuals—locally referred to as mak nyah or pondan—to enter facilities designated for women.
