The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning following forecasts of heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds affecting several areas in Kedah, Penang, Terengganu and Johor until 4pm today.
In a statement, MetMalaysia said the warning covers multiple districts in Kedah, including Kota Setar, Yan, Pendang and Kuala Muda.
In Penang, the affected areas include Barat Daya, Timur Laut, Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Tengah, with similar weather conditions expected throughout the day.
MetMalaysia also said several districts in Terengganu, namely Marang, Dungun and Kemaman, are also expected to be affected by severe weather conditions.
Meanwhile in Johor, the warning covers Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru as adverse weather is forecast to persist until late afternoon.
Authorities have advised the public to remain cautious and take necessary safety precautions amid the unstable weather conditions.
