Date:

Two siblings escaped without injuries after their semi-permanent two-storey home along Jalan Palma 4, Taman Permaisuri Indah, RPR Batu 6 in Miri was completely destroyed in an early morning fire.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), an emergency call was received at about 4am before firefighters from the Miri Sentral Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene, located about 10km away.

Upon arrival, the fire commander reported that the 30ft by 30ft house had already been completely engulfed in flames.

Firefighting operations were carried out using an initial hose line and nozzle, along with a second 100-foot hose line, supplied by a nearby hydrant.

The blaze was brought under control and fully extinguished in less than 20 minutes, according to the report.

The two occupants, who are siblings, managed to evacuate safely before the fire spread and were confirmed unharmed.

After ensuring the area was safe and no further ignition risks remained, firefighters concluded operations and returned to station at around 6.18am.

The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation.
