Fadhlina Highlights Key Education Reforms Ahead of 2026 Budget Announcement

Date:

Creating an anti-bullying framework in educational institutions and advancing digital education, as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), are among the main priorities of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in the 2026 Budget.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the focus also includes efforts to empower preschool education and to nurture the potential of students with special educational needs. She added that these initiatives were shaped through dialogues and consultations with various stakeholders in the education sector.

“In the context of education, this year’s budget is very important as it aligns closely with the implementation of key MOE agendas, such as the Malaysia Education Development Plan 2026-2035 and the New School Curriculum 2027,” she wrote in a Facebook post today.

Fadhlina also highlighted her recent discussion with Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, describing it as an opportunity to thoroughly review education-related budget initiatives.

“The 2026 Budget, the fourth in the MADANI Budget series, focuses on restoring fiscal resilience, strengthening the economic foundation, and improving the standard of living for the people, all based on the MADANI Economic Framework. We extend our deepest gratitude to Senator Minister of Finance II and his team for their thoughtful consideration. We now await the 2026 Budget,” she said.

According to the parliamentary calendar, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to present the 2026 Budget Bill at 4 pm on 10 October in the Dewan Rakyat.
