The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) has classified as No Further Action (NFA) the police investigation paper relating to a complaint filed by businessman Albert Tei against former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.
In a statement on Wednesday, the AGC said the decision was made after reviewing the investigation paper submitted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), which found that elements of criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code could not be substantiated.
The complaint was lodged by Tei Jiann Cheing, also known as Albert Tei, against Azam Baki over alleged criminal intimidation.
According to the AGC, a thorough assessment of the investigation papers concluded that the offence of criminal intimidation under Section 506 could not be proven.
“As such, the investigation paper has been classified as NFA (No Further Action),” the statement said.
The complaint had previously alleged that Azam threatened, obstructed and mistreated Tei while he was attempting to expose alleged corruption involving several high-profile politicians in Sabah last year.
Azam Baki had earlier stated his readiness to fully cooperate with police investigations into the matter.
He also denied all allegations made against him, following his statement recorded by police at Bukit Aman.
It was previously reported that police had recorded statements from Tei and other individuals allegedly linked to the claimed threats, while Azam was also called in to assist investigations.
Authorities confirmed that all relevant parties had been interviewed as part of the probe conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Bukit Aman.
