“Eraser Spinning Top” Trend Is Making A Comeback Among School Students

Date:

Recently, some parents discovered two to four erasers stapled together inside their child’s pencil case and quickly shared photos on social media, wondering what on earth the “thing” was.

The mystery was soon solved when a teacher named Zahran humorously explained on Facebook that he had “gone undercover” as a fourth-grade student to figure it out. It turned out to be a popular mini-game among elementary students called the “eraser spinning top.” Using staples, students make the erasers spin more smoothly, then compete to see whose eraser spins the longest. The winner gets to claim the loser’s eraser as a prize.

Zahran joked that he lost to the kids in the game, even forfeiting his only eraser, but he also reminded parents to watch out for safety: “The erasers themselves are harmless, but the staples are sharp and can cause cuts.”

What started as a simple playground game has now sparked a school-wide craze, with children getting more and more creative in designing their spinning tops, showing off their inventiveness and unique ways of collecting.

Although it’s a simple “invention,” the game has sparked a craze in schools, showcasing children’s creativity and unusual ways of collecting.
