House Destroyed In Late-Night Fire In Puncak Borneo

Date:

A house in Kampung Sri Arjuna, Jalan Puncak Borneo, was destroyed in a late-night fire on Tuesday.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre, an emergency call was received at 11.06pm before firefighters from the Siburan Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the scene.

Teams from the Kota Sentosa and Tabuan Jaya fire stations also assisted in the operation.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-storey semi-permanent house already about 90 per cent engulfed in flames.

Fire crews carried out firefighting operations using several hose lines, drawing water from fire engines and a relay pumping system supplied from external sources.

The operation faced challenges due to the lack of nearby fire hydrants in the village, forcing firefighters to obtain water from outside the area and nearby water sources.

All occupants of the house managed to escape safely, with no injuries or fatalities reported.

The house’s location on a hillside and away from other residences helped prevent the fire from spreading.

A total of 17 firefighters were involved in the operation, which was brought under control before being fully extinguished in the early hours of the morning after ensuring no remaining hotspots.

The cause of the fire and the extent of losses are still under investigation.
