Road Rage Victim Traumatized After Meat Cleaver Attack On Federal Highway

Date:

A man who was brutally attacked with a meat cleaver during a road rage incident on the Federal Highway says he is still battling trauma and post-surgery pain following the shocking assault.

Abu Mishary Mohd Fairus, 45, spent several days in hospital recovering from his injuries and continues to rely on medication to manage the pain caused by the attack.

Sharing his experience in a Facebook post, Abu Mishary admitted that one of the most surreal moments following the incident was being asked to attend a police lineup to identify a suspect.

“That’s something I never expected to experience in life,” he wrote.

“It’s the kind of thing you only see in crime dramas and police shows on television. You always think it will never happen to you, but life had other plans.”

The horrifying incident took place at about 7am on Thursday while Abu Mishary was riding to work along the Federal Highway motorcycle lane near Section 13, Shah Alam.

The attack allegedly began after he honked at another motorcyclist who was said to be obstructing his path. What started as a traffic dispute quickly escalated into violence when the victim was reportedly slashed with a meat cleaver.

As he struggled to recover in hospital, Abu Mishary said he was stunned to discover that news of the attack had spread rapidly online, with people across social media attempting to identify the victim while he was still receiving treatment.

“For several days, friends, colleagues, acquaintances and even complete strangers were discussing the incident while I was still trying to process what had happened myself,” he said.

“At the same time, I was lying in a hospital bed, heavily medicated and barely aware of what day it was.”

Despite the traumatic ordeal, Abu Mishary said what remains strongest in his memory is not the violence, but the overwhelming support and compassion shown by those around him.

He revealed that family members, friends, colleagues and even people he hardly knew reached out through visits, phone calls, messages and prayers during his recovery.

One moment that particularly touched him involved a senior superior who personally visited him in hospital, brought him a meal and even helped feed him while he was recovering.

“When I told him I didn’t want to trouble him, he said I was around the same age as his son and that he was treating me as if I were his own child.

“Those words stayed with me,” he recalled.

Abu Mishary said the experience served as a powerful reminder that while some individuals are capable of causing harm, others are equally capable of extraordinary kindness.

“To everyone who visited me, called me, messaged me, prayed for me, checked on me, encouraged me and stood by me during this difficult time, thank you.

“I will never forget your kindness.

“Even during some of the darkest moments in your life, you may discover just how many people are quietly supporting you,” he said.
