Rider Injured After Car Runs Red Light And Crashes Into Motorcycle

Date:

A motorcyclist was injured after a traffic light violation allegedly caused a collision involving a Proton Saga driven by an Iranian woman and a Yamaha Y16 in Jalan Lagoon Selatan this morning.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police received a report on the incident at about 10.30am.

He said initial investigations found that the 32-year-old woman was driving from Jalan Lagoon Selatan towards the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) when she allegedly ran a red light.

The vehicle then collided with a 24-year-old local motorcyclist who was travelling straight through the junction on a green signal.

“As a result of the crash, the rider suffered injuries to his legs and waist and was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for further treatment,” he said in a statement.

The driver was not injured and has since lodged a police report regarding the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police have urged road users to obey traffic signals at all times to prevent accidents that could endanger lives.
