‘Waterfall View’ Property Listing Sparks Debate Over Possible Landslide Risk

Date:

A property listing near Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) has gone viral after a real estate agent promoted a unit with a so-called “waterfall view” — a feature many social media users believe is actually heavy rainwater runoff from a nearby slope.

The controversy erupted after Threads user @hanahdbee shared a video showing water cascading down a hillside during a heavy downpour. The footage quickly attracted attention, with many questioning whether the dramatic scene should be considered a selling point.

According to the post, the property is located about eight minutes from TTDI. The user claimed she visited the unit during a storm and was told by the owner that the living room offered a direct view of the flowing water.

The owner is reportedly seeking RM860,000 for the 1,200-square-foot unit, which comes with four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

However, several netizens were unconvinced by the “waterfall” description. Many pointed out that the water appeared to originate from surface runoff rather than a natural river or stream, with the flow eventually draining into a channel below.

The unusual sales pitch also raised concerns about the area’s drainage system and slope stability. Some users argued that such a large volume of water during heavy rain could indicate underlying environmental risks rather than a scenic attraction.

One commenter suggested that the sight could negatively impact the property’s market value, saying the apparent runoff represented an additional risk for potential buyers.

Another user warned that the phenomenon should not be taken lightly, claiming it could be an early sign of flash flooding or even a possible landslide during extreme weather conditions.

The viral post has since sparked wider discussion online, with many Malaysians debating whether the “waterfall view” is a unique feature or a red flag that prospective homeowners should investigate more carefully before making a purchase.
