Stepfather Remanded for Allegedly Abusing 15-Year-Old Stepdaughter

Date:

A 56-year-old unemployed Singaporean man was remanded for five days by the Jasin Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, suspected of sexually abusing his 15-year-old stepdaughter, a Form Three student.

Magistrate Mazana Sinin issued the remand order until Saturday.

Sources revealed that the alleged abuse came to light after an argument between the suspect, the 15-year-old victim, and her 17-year-old sister at their village home on Monday. During the quarrel, the victim reportedly confided in her mother, aged 56, that her stepfather had allegedly molested her on June 27, when she complained of back pain.

“The incident is believed to have occurred around 11:30 p.m. when the suspect offered to massage the youngest of the five siblings,” the source said.

Frightened, the victim ran to her room and cried, keeping the incident hidden from her mother. The older sister also claimed that the suspect had touched her thigh before she left for school earlier this year, though the suspect denied this allegation.

The victim’s mother subsequently lodged a police report at Jasin Police Station around 1 p.m. on Monday.

Officers from the D11 Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Melaka Contingent Police Headquarters arrested the suspect to facilitate investigations under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
