A woman who had been listed as missing since 2019 after leaving her family home in Johor Bahru has finally been found safe and well in Langkawi, bringing an end to a six-year mystery.
The discovery was made late on Wednesday night when police conducted an inspection at a house in Taman Helang Perdana, Kuah, following information received from members of the public.
Langkawi Deputy District Police Chief Superintendent Samsulmuddin Sulaiman said officers arrived at the residence at approximately 11pm and found a 21-year-old woman living there with a child.
Further checks against police records revealed that the woman was still listed as a missing person following a report lodged in Majidee, Johor, in 2019.
According to police, the woman admitted that she had left her family home in Johor Bahru before relocating to Langkawi. She also claimed to have married a foreign national during her time away from her family.
However, her husband was not present at the house when officers carried out the inspection.
Police have since informed the woman’s family about her whereabouts, ending years of uncertainty over her disappearance.
The case quickly gained traction online, with news of her discovery spreading across social media platforms and drawing widespread public attention. The unexpected reunion has sparked conversations about missing persons cases and the emotional impact they can have on families waiting for answers.
Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances surrounding her disappearance or her life during the six years she was away from home.
