A Perodua Myvi has once again cemented its legendary status among Malaysian motorists after a viral video showed the popular hatchback shooting flames from its exhaust and stealing the spotlight from a convoy of supercars.
The clip, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, begins with several high-performance vehicles, including a Lamborghini, accelerating away from a toll plaza while producing dramatic exhaust backfires commonly known as “afterfire”.
However, it was not the exotic supercars that captured the attention of viewers.
Moments later, a Perodua Myvi appeared in the video, seemingly producing similar flames from its exhaust before speeding past several vehicles, prompting laughter and amusement among netizens.
The exact location where the footage was recorded has not been independently verified.
The viral video emerged during the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), where luxury vehicles, concept cars and cutting-edge mobility technology are among the main attractions.
Yet online, it was Malaysia’s beloved compact hatchback that became the unexpected star of the show.
The Myvi has long been the subject of internet memes and jokes, with many Malaysians affectionately referring to it as the country’s unofficial “king of the road” due to its perceived ability to appear everywhere and outperform expectations.
Social media users were quick to join in the fun.
Facebook user Clement Lee joked: “Remember folks, no matter how fast you are, there will always be a Myvi faster than you.”
Another user, Zimie Zul, quipped: “This is why I did not buy a Lamborghini. It would be embarrassing to be outdone by a Myvi.”
The video has since attracted thousands of reactions and comments, becoming the latest chapter in Malaysia’s enduring fascination with the Myvi and its larger-than-life reputation on local roads.
While the authenticity of the flame-producing hatchback remains unclear, one thing is certain — once again, the Myvi has managed to outshine vehicles worth many times its price and become the talk of the internet.
