A 37-year-old man who was reported missing since Thursday was found dead in a forested area near Jalan Sutera, Taman Perling, Johor Bahru, on Friday.
The victim, identified as Tay Aun Yen, was discovered near a tree by members of the search and rescue (SAR) team following hours of coordinated efforts involving several agencies.
According to the Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call regarding the missing person case was received at 1.28am, prompting the deployment of eight firefighters from the Larkin Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.
Upon arrival, the rescue team confirmed details of the missing person report based on information provided by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). However, the search operation had to be temporarily suspended during the night due to poor visibility and safety concerns within the forested area.
The SAR operation resumed later with two search teams comprising six firefighters and four police personnel combing the area for clues.
Rescuers eventually located the victim’s body together with his Volvo XC40 vehicle in the vicinity. Authorities said the body was found approximately 30 metres from the vehicle.
Firefighters subsequently retrieved the body before handing it over to police for further investigation and follow-up procedures.
The search and rescue operation was officially concluded at 11.08am after the recovery process was completed.
