Illegal Mods, No Licence Among Top Offences In Kuantan Op Bersepadu

Date:

Authorities carried out a major traffic enforcement operation along Jalan Kuantan Bypass near Terminal Sentral Kuantan, resulting in 49 motorcycles being seized and 293 summonses issued for various offences.

The operation, known as Op Bersepadu Dalaman HMPV, was conducted for more than 11 hours through a joint effort between the Kuantan District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD) and the Pahang Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT).

Kuantan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah said a total of 373 vehicles were inspected, comprising 16 cars and 357 motorcycles during the enforcement exercise.

He said inspections revealed multiple traffic violations, with the highest number involving non-compliant vehicle registration plates at 76 cases, followed by 42 cases of no driving licence, 41 cases of missing side mirrors, 33 cases of modified exhaust systems, and 27 cases involving illegal vehicle modifications.

Authorities also confirmed that 49 motorcycles were seized under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Ashari stressed that traffic offences, particularly illegal modifications, unlicensed riding, and non-standard number plates, are taken seriously as they pose significant risks to road safety.

He added that such enforcement operations will continue to be intensified from time to time to ensure a higher level of compliance among road users.

Members of the public are also urged to comply with traffic regulations, ensure their vehicles are in proper condition, and maintain valid documentation before using the road.
