Police in Pesawaran, Lampung have detained two junior high school students, aged 14 and 15, on suspicion of murdering a 41-year-old transgender woman identified as Dainuro.
According to the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasatreskrim) at Pesawaran Police, Iptu Pande Putu Yoga Mahendra, the victim was found inside her salon with 78 stab wounds and slash injuries from sharp weapons.
Initial investigations revealed that the teenagers attacked the victim after being dissatisfied with the payment they received following a sexual encounter. One of the suspects, DA (15), admitted he was upset because he was only paid Rp40,000–Rp60,000, while he had heard that other clients were given Rp100,000. Driven by anger, the two returned to confront the victim and fatally assaulted her.
At the crime scene, police recovered a machete and a knife believed to have been used in the attack. Both suspects are currently being held at Pesawaran District Police Headquarters for further questioning.
Given their ages, the investigation is also involving officers from the Correctional Institution (Bapas) as required by law for underage offenders.
