15-Year-Old Cricket Sensation Hits Record-Breaking 50 In Just 11 Balls

Date:

Indian teenage cricket star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has rewritten the record books after smashing the fastest half-century ever recorded in List A 50-over cricket.

The 15-year-old prodigy achieved the milestone while representing India A against Sri Lanka A, reaching his fifty in just 11 balls before eventually blasting 94 runs from only 29 deliveries.

His breathtaking innings helped power India A to a massive total of 377-9 and featured an explosive display of stroke play, including 10 fours and eight sixes.

Remarkably, Sooryavanshi faced only one dot ball during his record-breaking fifty. The remaining 10 deliveries produced five boundaries and five sixes as he raced to the landmark in unprecedented fashion.

The feat eclipsed the previous List A record of a 13-ball half-century set by Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera while playing for the Sri Lankan Army in 2021.

It also surpassed the fastest international one-day fifty record, jointly held by former South African captain AB de Villiers and West Indies batter Matthew Forde, who both reached the milestone in 16 balls.

The latest achievement adds another chapter to Sooryavanshi’s remarkable rise in world cricket.

Ironically, his record-breaking performance came on the same day he was left out of India’s squad for the upcoming one-day international series against England.

However, selectors have included the teenager in India’s T20 squads for tours against Ireland and England next month, where he could make his long-awaited international debut.

Sooryavanshi has emerged as one of cricket’s brightest young talents after finishing as the leading run-scorer in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), attracting widespread attention for his fearless batting style.

Meanwhile, India could welcome back star batter Virat Kohli for the ODI series against England, subject to passing a fitness test following a hamstring injury.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has also been included in the squad, while batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and all-rounder Hardik Pandya were omitted.

India’s T20 campaign begins against Ireland on June 26 before a five-match series against England starts on July 1. The teams will then meet in a three-match ODI series beginning on July 14.

With records tumbling at just 15 years of age, Sooryavanshi is already being viewed as one of the most exciting prospects in world cricket and a potential future star for India.
