Decomposed Skeleton Found in Rubber Plantation Sparks Sudden Death Investigation in Kuala Ketil

Date:

A decomposed human skeleton, still fully clothed, was discovered yesterday morning in a rubber plantation in Kampung Padang Besar, Kuala Ketil.

The remains were found by a 43-year-old man who was tapping rubber in the area at the time.

Acting Baling District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Salimi Md Ali, said police received a report from the man at 11 a.m. regarding the discovery near a fence where he had been working. He added that a blue SYM motorcycle was also found approximately 25 meters from the skeleton.

Following the report, a team of officers arrived at the scene at 11:30 a.m. to conduct an investigation.

“The skeleton was found lying on its back, with its feet resting on a white tin, and a knife was located to the left of the body,” Ahmad Salimi said.

A missing person record revealed that the deceased had been reported missing by his wife on August 29. According to her statement, he had left home on August 24 and had not returned since.

The body was later identified by the wife and her stepson based on the clothing and the motorcycle found at the scene.

The remains have been sent to the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar for an autopsy.

“Investigation is currently being conducted under sudden death (SDR) procedures,” Ahmad Salimi added.
