A local man has been detained after authorities discovered suspected possession of controlled goods without a valid permit during an enforcement operation in front of the Semporna public jetty.
The operation, carried out as part of Ops Tiris 4.0 (Integrated), was conducted to curb the misuse and leakage of subsidised controlled items.
According to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN), the case was handed over by the 22nd Battalion General Operations Force (PGA) in Kunak following the enforcement action.
During the operation, authorities seized 310 litres of petrol and 400 litres of diesel, along with a fibre boat, an outboard engine, batteries, a throttle system, a wheelbarrow and several other tools believed to be used in the activity.
KPDN said the total value of seized controlled goods was estimated at RM2,082.70, while the overall value including the boat and equipment amounted to RM30,365.40.
A case has been opened under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for further investigation.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to intensify enforcement efforts to prevent subsidy leakage and ensure controlled goods reach legitimate consumers, warning that strict action will be taken against any parties found violating the law.
